Frequently Asked Questions about the Motiva Preservé® Method
How long is the recovery, and when can I return to work?
Downtime is greatly reduced compared to traditional breast augmentation. Thanks to the minimal trauma to tissue and muscle, a quick return to light daily activities is possible. Many of our patients are socially present within hours and can immediately resume non-strenuous work. However, it is important to distinguish between minimal downtime and full healing: although you return to activity quickly, full internal healing and the settling of the implants into their final position (Settling) takes about 3 to 6 months.
How safe is the Preservé™ method, and what is the risk of capsular contracture?
The method is designed for maximum safety. The Motiva Preservé® Method combines gentle balloon dissection with the so-called “No-Touch” technique, using an Insertion Sleeve. The latter minimizes the risk of infection by preventing direct contact between the implant and the skin during placement. Studies show that the risk of capsular contracture (the most common long-term complication) with Motiva implants is less than 1% after four years—a significantly lower rate than with conventional implants.
Is there a risk that the implants might shift (inferior malposition, bottoming-out)?
The risk of displacement is minimal with the Preservé™ method. The technique is designed to maximize long-term stability by preserving the Pectoralis Major muscle. A stable nest is created by stretching the natural tissues. A clinical study confirmed this benefit with a rate of 0% inferior malposition (slipping downwards) after three years.
When can I resume exercising after the Preservé™ breast augmentation?
The resumption of exercise occurs in phases, with protecting the upper body being essential: Light walking to promote circulation is allowed immediately. Lighter cardio and lower body exercises can often be resumed after about 2 weeks. However, intensive upper body training and heavy lifting must be paused for at least 4 weeks to avoid jeopardizing full healing and the correct positioning of the implants.
Is my ability to breastfeed preserved after the procedure?
Yes. Maintaining the glandular function responsible for breastfeeding is one of the main goals of the tissue-preserving method. By placing the implant in front of the chest muscle (subglandular) and performing minimal tissue dissection, the risk of damage to the milk ducts is significantly reduced.
What is the role of the Ergonomix2® implants?
The Preservé™ method is only possible in combination with the highly elastic Motiva Ergonomix2® implants. These implants are soft, light, and feature a SmoothSilk® nano-texture that minimizes the risk of inflammation (and later capsular contracture). Their flexibility is necessary for insertion through the minimal 2 to 2.5 centimetre incision. They are crucial for the natural appearance, the soft feel, and the low long-term complication rate.
